A few changes made to school supply list on 7-25-16 (in bold)

 

General Primary School Supplies

  • Backpacks: Backpacks should be solid colors, have no wheels, and should be large enough to fit a towel for rest time, a full-size folder, and a lunch box (if necessary).
  • Labels: Label your child’s art box with his first and last name. Watercolors and scissors should be marked with initials. No other items need to be labeled.
  • Some supplies will be provided by the school, such as journals, homework folders, pencil sharpeners, whiteboards, and hand sanitizer. Do not bring handheld sharpeners.
  • Please bring your supplies on Meet the Teacher Day to avoid having so much to carry on the first day. The art box should be packed with unpackaged crayons, scissors, colored pencils (no twistable or erasable colored pencils) and erasers.   All other supplies will be collected as “community supplies.”
  • Art boxes should be no larger than size specified. Tables and cubbies are small!
  • Please do not decorate boxes with sticker or other objects.
  • Please do not send extra supplies that are not listed.

Junior Kindergarten

  • Art Box: plastic; snaps shut; small size (approx. 8”x5”)
  • Pencils: 1 box of 12 “My First Ticonderoga” beginner pencils
  • Pencil Sharpener: 1 sharpener for beginner pencils, to be kept at home (Steadtler Double-hole Tub sharpener suggested)
  • Glue Sticks: dries clear, qty 4
  • Crayons: 2 twenty-four packs of Crayola (only unpackage one box, please)
  • Scissors: Metal blade, blunt end
  • Watercolor set: Prang or Crayola; 16 colors

  • Spring Meadows 3rd graders’ backpacks should have no wheels.
  • A sturdy, 1½ -inch, 3-ring binder (used for all subjects)
  • This will be kept at home to store returned quizzes, tests, and other assignments. It is the responsibility of the student (with parental aid!) to file all returned papers in this binder for future use.
  • 8 dividers for use in the 3-ring binder.
  • Label them: Latin, Math, Literature, Language Arts, Classical, Christian, Astronomy, American
  • Flashcards: Addition, Multiplication, Division (also kept at home; will be used regularly for HW)
  • 1 large back pack (no wheels at SM, please)*
  • 2 spiral notebooks (70 pages, wide rule)
  • 1 labeled “Latin”*
  • 2 pocket folders (with horizontal pockets)
  • 1  sturdy plastic, BLUE* (this will travel back & forth daily)

4th Grade

Our first day of school will run more smoothly if you would bring all supplies to Meet the Teacher Day. If you can’t come that day, bring them to the first day of class. Please bring only the necessary supplies to school. Other supplies will be provided by the school (e.g. planner).

**Label these items with your name.

Put these items in your desk:

  • **3x spiral bound graph notebooks, 4×4 quad ruled
  • **1x small pencil box (8”x5”) to store supplies
  • **2x spiral-bound, wide ruled, single subject notebook (1 red; 1 blue)
  • **1 sturdy 1″ white binder with insertable clear pockets on the outside (this will travel back and forth daily)
  • 2 packages of loose leaf paper, wide ruled (one to be kept at home)
  • 2x packages 3”x5” white index cards lined on one side (100 each; one to kept at home)
  • 2x plastic index card box (individual 3”x5”x1”)
  • **1x pocket dictionary/thesaurus

Put these items in your pencil box:

  • **2x large pink or white erasers
  • **1x quality handheld pencil sharpener (Staedtler is excellent)
  • 2x red ballpoint pens
  • 2x yellow highlighters
  • 1x sock/rag/small board eraser (for individual white boards)
  • **1x pkg of lightweight mechanical pencils (inexpensive, disposable type, e.g. BIC)

Turn in to your teacher:

  • **16x thin-tip black dry erase markers
  • **1x package of colored pencils (no twistable or eraseable colored pencils; 24 colors)
  • 3x boxes of tissues
  • **1x 24-pack package no. 2 pencils for our classroom
  • ½ inch white view binder (to be kept in music room; do not label, please)

Keep at home:

  • Flashcards: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division (will be used regularly for homework)
  • 1x sturdy 2 inch binder (used to store quizzes, tests, and other assignments. Graded assignments will be sent home in the students’ 1 inch binder.  It is the responsibility of the students to file these graded assignments in their binder.)
  • 8x dividers for 2 inch binder. (Label the tabs: Latin, Math, Literature, Language Arts, FMR, Geography, Christian Studies, Science.)

 

5th Grade

  • One 2 inch binder with 7 pocket dividers labeled as follows: Math, Literature, Language Arts, American Studies, Classical Studies, Christian Studies, and Science

This binder will remain at home for the students’ use in filing tests, handouts, etc. after we have finished them in class.  These papers will come home with students in their “To be Filed” pocket.

Please bring the following supplies on Meet the Teacher Day:

  • 1 sturdy 1 inch binder with front and back pockets. This will house our agenda and travel back and forth daily.
  • 5 dividers labeled as follows: Latin, Math, Language Arts, Literature, Studies
  • 2 single subject spiral-bound notebooks
  • 2 spiral bound graph notebooks, 4×4 quad ruled
  • 20 thin-tip dry erase markers (black only)
  • 1 sock/rag/small board eraser (for individual white boards)
  • 3 boxes of tissues
  • 2 packages loose leaf paper, wide ruled
  • 1 package no. 2 pencils or mechanical pencils with extra lead (have some sharpened and ready for the first day!)
  • 2 large pink erasers
  • 2 yellow highlighters
  • Colored pencils (no twistable or erasable colored pencils; 24 pack of Crayola)
  • 1 small pencil box (preferably made of flexible material that snaps shut. You can fit about 12 pencils in the box.)
  • 3 x 5 inch lined index cards (2 packs of 100)
  • 5 metal book rings to hold flashcards (2” preferred)
  • Pocket Oxford American Dictionary &Thesaurus
  • 2 red pens (red only please)
  • ½ inch white view binder (to be kept in music room; do not label, please)

 

6th Grade

Please bring all supplies on Meet the Teacher Day.

  • 1 single subject spiral-bound notebook
  • 1 sturdy 2 inch binder with 7 pocket dividers each labeled as follows: Math, Science, Language Arts, Christian Studies, English, Classical Studies, and American Studies

This binder will remain at home for the student’s use in filing tests, handouts, etc. after we have finished them in class.  These papers will come home with students in their “To be Filed” folder.

  • 1 one-inch binder with a pocket folder labeled as follows: The left pocket should be labeled “Homework.” The right pocket should be labeled “To be Filed.”  This folder will travel between school and home and will house the agenda at all times. All homework should be placed in the “Homework” pocket and returned to school with the student.  The “To be Filed” folder should be emptied each night and all papers filed in the binder at home for future reference if needed.
  • 2 spiral bound graph notebooks, 4×4 quad ruled
  • 12 thin-tip dry erase markers (black only)
  • 2 red correcting pens (NO OTHER PENS, PLEASE! Lower School students use pencils ONLY.)
  • 1 sock/rag/small board eraser (for individual white boards)

  • 1 package no. 2 pencils or mechanical pencils with extra lead (have some sharpened ready for the first day!)

Grades 7-12

This is not a complete list. Teachers will indicate any other required materials when school begins.

All students:

  • Students will need 3 ring binders for their subjects. If teachers have specific requirements they will be noted below.

Calculators:

  • 7th-9th grade need either a scientific calculator (similar to TI30XIIS) or a graphing calculator.
  • 10th-12th require a graphing calculator.
  • For graphing calculators, the TI 82-89 are all acceptable.
  • Students who intend to take AP Calculus and AP Physics should consider a TI 86 or 89.
  • For everyone else, the TI 83/84 is a good option.

7th-12th – Latin:

  • 2-3 packs of 100 3×5 notecards (Mr. McDonald only)

7th/8th – Greek:
