Seven Highlands Latin students accepted to Governor’s School for the Arts/Governor’s Scholars.gsa

Although Highlands Latin is known for strong academics, the arts have been quietly on the rise.

Highlands Latin had more students accepted to Governor’s School for the Arts this year than any other private school in Louisville.  Congratulations to the selected students below.

Austin Dugan – Architecture
Sophia Fornwalt – Creative Writing
Anna Fuller – New Media
Burke Tinsley – Visual Arts
Laura Yoder – Dance
Alternate: Laura Callihan – Creative Writing

Each accepted student will spend three weeks in intense art instruction at Centre College. Private donors and the Commonwealth of Kentucky pay the entire $3,800 cost per pupil.

Governor’s Scholars Program

Two Highlands Latin Seniors were accepted to the Governor’s Scholar’s Program, the maximum allowed for small schools. The Governor’s Scholars Program is a highly competitive summer program in which students spend five weeks studying at one of three in-state college campuses. GSP is completely paid for by the governor’s office and donors.  Students who complete the summer program are awarded generous scholarship opportunities to colleges and universities in the state of Kentucky.

The Highlands Latin Students accepted to the Governor’s Scholars Program are Schuyler Baas and Sydney Veith.
